Hippies and Harleys Benefit
More than 300 guests took a trip back to an time where love was free and bikes were loud at Family Centers’ “Hippies & Harleys” benefit on June 3.
Held at the backcountry home of Nancy and Dominic Casserley, Family Centers’ reinterpretation of the Woodstock era captured the essence of the 1960s. Using the free-wheeling vibe of the groundbreaking film Easy Rider as a source of inspiration, co-chairs Ashley Allan, Kate Clark, Laurie Grauer and Elizabeth Lake (all of Greenwich) created an authentic 1960’s-style utopia.
During the event’s cocktail reception, guests sipped bourbon in the “Harley Lounge” and wandered through the lush landscape of the “Hippie Garden”. They also enjoyed acoustic versions of classic rock favorites.
Inside the tent, colorful tapestries and tie dye linens set the tone for the evening. As guests enjoyed a three-course meal prepared by Marcia Selden Catering, they were treated to some of the most beloved songs of the ‘60s. Family Centers also premiered a new video in celebration of its 125thanniversary. After dinner, guests danced the night away to music by Marianne Bennett Presents Element Music.
Family Centers also raffled off a rare 2000 Indian Chief motorcycle, which was donated by Arlene and Reuben Mark.
“Hippies and Harleys” was Family Centers’ largest fundraiser of the year, and raised important funds for the agency’s human service, health and education programs that serve more than 25,500 Fairfield County residents each year.
