An Intimate Discussion with Political Historian Gil Troy beginning at 7:30 pm on Thursday, September 15 at Carmel Academy in Greenwich
In a world where countries often compete to bash Israel, our presidential candidates compete to see who loves Israel most. But “the Jewish vote” is about more than standing for the Jewish State. During this election campaign, award-winning American historian and Zionist activist Gil Troy will give a non-partisan presentation putting this moment in historical perspective -- and offering a constructive Zionist vision for American Jews and Israelis to work together. A gift to the community from UJA/JCC Greenwich & AIPAC.
Gil Troy is the author of The Age of Clinton: America in the 1990s. In 2012, he edited and updated the classic multi-volume History of American Presidential Campaigns, originally edited by Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr. and Fred Israel. His book, Moynihan’s Moment: America’s Fight against Zionism as Racism looking at the fall of the UN and the Rise of Reagan was published by Oxford University Press. Jewish Ideas Daily designated it one of its “best books” of 2012 and it was the winner of a 2014 J.I. Segal Award in the category of English Non-Fiction Award on a Jewish Theme. Troy has been widely published and quoted in the American, Canadian, and Israeli media, and is a professor at McGill University.
