Saks Fifth Avenue today announced Joe Gambino as Vice President, General Manager of The Saks Shops at Greenwich. Gambino, a Connecticut native, will lead the iconic brand as it undergoes an exciting evolution in Greenwich, kicking off with the opening of its first store dedicated solely to shoes, 10022-SHOE, on Oct. 20.
“I am thrilled to return to my home state of Connecticut after many years away to lead The Saks Shops at Greenwich into an exciting new future,” commented Gambino. “Saks has earned a loyal local following after more than 20 years serving and giving back to the Greenwich community, and I’m honored to be able to continue that tradition.”
A long-standing leader within the retail industry, Gambino has been with Saks Fifth Avenue in a series of management positions since late 2012. He most recently served as Vice President, General Manager of Saks Philadelphia and previously spent time as General Manager of Saks Columbus. Earlier in his career, he was the Assistant General Merchandising Manager at both Saks Greenwich and Saks Long Island. Gambino has also held roles at Belk, Filene’s, and Polo Ralph Lauren.
The Saks Shops at Greenwich will begin to take form later this month with the launch of 10022-SHOE at 20 East Elm Street. Stand-alone stores “The Vault” (jewelry) and “The Collective” (modern designer fashion), plus renovations to The Main store on Greenwich Avenue, will follow in 2017.
