Ridgefield authorities and the The National Hurricane Center at NOAA issue cyclone warning for early next week
The National Hurricane Center estimates a 40% chance of cyclone formation from this disturbance in next five day period.
Although our area will not be affected by Hurricane Harvey, NOAA is monitoring a disorganized tropical disturbance across Florida this weekend which could cause some weather issues for us early next week. Most forecast models move the system to a position offshore North Carolina by Tuesday and then east out to sea. Regardless of development, the area should expect a period of rough surf and high risk of rip currents early next week. Points south of the NYC along the NJ coast can expect even higher surf.
Since weather changes, please monitor this disturbance on outlook product from the National Hurricane Center. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo.php?basin=atlc&fdays=5
