Convent of the Sacred Heart Greenwich is mourning the loss of one of their own.  Senior, Caroline Dym of Pound Ridge passed away yesterday in a tragic turn of events.

On Friday, August 25, NYS Police, along with the Pound Ridge Police Department, responded to a residence located at 23 Fox Hill Road, in the Town of Pound Ridge, for an apparent murder suicide, State Police say.

Officers arrived on scene and discovered three people deceased inside of the home. A preliminary investigation indicated that 56-year-old Steven Dym of Pound Ridge, took the life of his 50-year-old wife Loretta Dym, their daughter, Caroline Dym, age 18, before taking his own life.

Convent of the Sacred Heart Head of School, Pamela Juan Hayes addressed the school community in a letter saying, “It is with deep sorrow and shock that you may have heard about the tragic emerging details of a double murder suicide of our beloved senior, Caroline Dym, and her mother and father.  This morning, I met with members of our senior class to support them as they cope with the trauma of losing their cherished classmate and deal with their personal sorrow.”

Hayes said that Sacred Heart administrators, faculty, psychologists, a priest, campus ministers, and grief counselors met with students this morning.

“We are here to support our students, guide our families with information we will make available, and offer counseling to all who need it. Please pray for Caroline and her family, and keep the Sacred Heart community in your prayers,” said Hayes.

The Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct autopsies to determine the cause of death of all three subjects.
