The Parity Partnership, a local grassroots nonpartisan organization committed to educating the public about gender equality, is hosting an event at the Second Congregational Church on Friday, September 30, 2016. The event will feature Reshma Saujani, CEO and founder of Girls who Code, a national non-profit organization dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology. The theme of the event is empowering girls for success and highlighting the need to be brave, rather than perfect, as they navigate through life. We are reaching out to Greenwich schools and inviting the students, parents and staff to participate.
The purpose is to engage students in this dialogue, and not just talk about them to an adult audience.
“Girls Who Code and The Parity Partnership are leading an important conversation,” says Senior Minister, Maxwell Grant. “They are urging us to open our eyes and recognize all of our best and brightest.”
This is not a fundraiser, and is completely non-partisan. The goal of the event is to encourage dialogue about the advancement of girls/women. The format will be a "Community Conversation" that encourages student participation. To that end, they are convening a "Student Press Conference" where students selected from each school will be given a press badge and the opportunity to ask questions, voice their views and meet Reshma in person.
The event is free and open to the public, Friday, September 30, from 3-5 p.m. Second Congregational Church is located at 139 E. Putnam Avenue in Greenwich, CT. Refreshments will be served.
